Campus Renewal +

In recognition of the critical state of campus facilities, it is the campus’s intention to direct additional funding to facility renewal for the next five years. This funding will be used to advance projects outside of the Campus Renewal program; the aim is to address needs that are unmet by current funding.

Project Selection Process

Projects will be selected annually and approved by the Finance Committee. Project lists will be developed collaboratively by Academic Planning, Facilities Services, Campus Projects, and campus stakeholders, with an emphasis on projects that deliver visible, broad campus impact.

Funding will support three categories of projects:

  • Distributed Projects — Facility refreshes such as painting, finish replacements, equipment renewal, and targeted building improvements.
  • Capital Project Collaboration — Partnerships with colleges and schools to support renewal priorities through shared funding and expanded project scopes.
  • Campus Priorities — Projects with campuswide benefit that lack a clear owner or dedicated funding source, such as stormwater management and landscape accessibility improvements.

To help identify priorities, Facilities Services Asset Managers will meet with departments, Facility Managers, and other stakeholders to gather input on facility needs and concerns. Annual lists will be developed based on the results of those meetings and the input of other campus stakeholders.

Because funding is limited, priority will be given to projects that align with the categories above or address especially critical needs.

In order to facilitate productive interviews, it would be very helpful if each submission included work within a unit to gather pain points, key areas of concern, planned campus projects, cost share opportunities and anything else desired to see included in this process before the meeting with the Asset Manager. Interviews are already underway so the lists can be developed for review and final approval by July 2026. We will repeat this call for projects annually so that we continue to compile updated lists.
