The Cal Zero Waste Residence Hall Team works closely with the Housing and Dining Sustainability Advocates (HADSA) to implement and educate student residents about waste-reduction infrastructure in the residence halls & university housing.
It is imperative to reach the incoming class each year in order for both residence hall and campus-wide waste diversion efforts to succeed. Education at the start of students’ UC Berkeley experience will set the stage for successful results of the zero waste program throughout campus as these students go into their second, third and/or fourth year at Cal. As each class moves on to the rest of their time at UC Berkeley, they leave their first year with the knowledge of waste diversion and zero waste.
