FS Safety Program

Occupational health and safety programs are vital to preventing injuries, illnesses, and death due to unsafe working conditions. It is designed to protect employees from potential risk and hazards through assessments, correction, communication, and training. Our goal is to ensure a safe work environment by promoting hazard awareness and addressing safety concerns upon discovery. Contact the Department Safety Coordinator for questions, comments, or concerns.

Respiratory Protection

Employees required to wear respiratory protection for occupational hazards must be medically evaluated and fit tested prior to use. Inform your Supervisors if you need to be medically evaluated and fit tested.

Respiratory Protection Program

N95 Respirator Voluntary Use

For voluntary or recommended use of an N95 respirator, employees must review the N95 Respirator Voluntary Use training, fill out the Acknowledgement of Receipt on the last page, and submit the form to your Supervisor prior to donning a respirator.

Heat Illness Prevention

The risk of heat illness affects everyone on campus, both outdoors and indoors. CalOSHA regulations require employers to take immediate action to support employees who exhibit symptoms of heat illness. All employees are required to take Heat Illness Prevention Training (EHS 702) to understand the signs of heat illness, know how to respond, and learn how to stay safe when working in hot weather.

Employees working outdoors, including but not limited to, gardeners, roofers, and plumbers, shall have access to water and shade, know the signs and symptoms of heat illness, and emergency response procedures. View the links below to learn more.
