Grounds Update

October 2, 2018
This spring Grounds Department has hired  two new Landscape Supervisors . Juan Casanova was promoted in February and Lauri Twitchell was hired in March from Blake Gardens.
Lauri Twitchell has a master degree from the  UC Berkeley.Landscape Architect Department. She is a  designer, naturalist and artist. She has  been a gardener for over 40 years and worked in many  landscapes including UC Botanical Garden and the Blake Garden, She holds a  Maine Master Gardener's Certificate and a  CA. Landscape contractors license.
Juan Casanova comes from a strong landscaping background
He started working with UC Berkeley in 1994 as a Laborer Gardener B, he has a special attraction to trees and shrubs so he studied Plant Taxonomy, later he obtained his CA Contractor's State License, then he got his arborist certification ISA (International Society of Arboriculture)

He holds also a Bay Friendly Qualified Certificate and his latest achievement was to obtain his Backflow Prevention Certification.

Putting all that together gives Juan a broad understanding of what Landscaping is all about and gives him the ability to balance the interaction of people with nature.

The campus will be divided into 4 sectors (East, West, Union and Off Campus). The attachments will show the delineations of each sector and the share the overview of the Gardeners and Groundskeepers daily work schedule.Below are the contacts of the Landscape Supervisors and the Lead Gardeners.
