Zero Waste

Zero Waste manages more than 25 tons of solid waste across the UC Berkeley campus every day. Our mission is to advance a culture of sustainability by reducing waste, promoting reuse, expanding recycling and composting programs, and providing dependable collection services that support the campus community.

Achieving a zero-waste future requires collaboration. Zero Waste partners with a variety of campus departments to ensure materials are managed responsibly at every stage. We work closely with Custodial Services to coordinate indoor waste, recycling, and compost collection; Landscape Services to manage green waste and plant debris; and Facilities Services Event Services to support waste diversion efforts at campus events.
