Safety data sheets (SDS) are the best source of information regarding the hazards, emergency response, and protective measures for any hazardous material. SDSs provide information beyond what is written on the labels of the chemicals. The sheets are typically provided by the manufacture of the chemicals as a resource to the users and communities.
Manufacturers are always the most reliable sources for SDSs, and the UC system has provided its researchers with UC SDS Resources (click for external link), a systemwide website created to help locate SDSs and other chemical safety information. In addition, UC SDS Resources (click for external link) allows users to utilize a customized Google search designed to quickly locate an SDS. This resource functions like any regular search engine.
UC Berkeley Environment, Health and Safety also keeps an inventory of SDSs on their website as well as a resource for the campus community.
