Building Automation Systems Management
The BAS group uses proprietary building automation systems to control and monitor the heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems in 75+ campus buildings.
BAS is currently transitioning their automation systems from Web Access (Barrington) to WebCtrl (ALC) which is the new campus standard, meaning all new projects will be using WebCtrl. Currently, 26 buildings are using WebCtrl.
The unit focuses on programming mechanical systems to balance building occupant comfort with energy conservation. The group also provides guidance and assistance in the design and construction of new campus building controls.

Building Automation Systems Access
Note: An active CalNet account and an operational need are required to access the Building Automation Systems (BAS) site.
How to Request Access
- Current Berkeley faculty, staff, affiliates, and students will need to submit a Work Order through the Call & Business Center. You can submit the request through the service request form. This may be a recharge order as this is not maintenance or a standard service we provide. Please include your name, email address, phone number, CalNet ID, Department, and reason for needing access.
- Non-Berkeley users who do not currently have a CalNet account will need to work with a sponsoring department to establish an affiliate account prior to requesting access. The sponsoring department is responsible for ensuring the proper use and management of the affiliate user.
How to Access the BAS System
- Once the access request is reviewed and approved by the EMS group, you will be added to the appropriate user-group, and notified that access has been granted. Software and instructions will be emailed to the requester.
