Maximo Go Live in Seven Weeks

September 26, 2016

FS colleagues:

Thanks to all of you for your continued engagement in the Maximo implementation. We are nearing the final phases of the project and are on track for a Mid-November go live.

Here are a few important updates about the project:

  • System Design – The design of the system has been reviewed and it is currently being developed/configured. We are on track to complete development and start User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on October 24. Key users from each group will be involved in the UAT, so please watch your email/calendar for invitations.
  • Data – The initial data loads were successfully tested and loaded to the development environment of Maximo in late August. Please continue to provide updated data templates on a weekly basis. Our goal is to transfer as much clean data as we can to Maximo.
  • Mobile Devices – Based on the responses from the feedback sessions, device management/administration needs, the recent Apple product announcements, and model availability from Verizon, the iPhone 6+ with 64GB has been selected for our mobile device platform. Devices have been ordered and will be delivered in the next few weeks. Once they arrive, we will be working with REIT to configure, activate, and deploy the devices, which will take some time considering the total number of devices. We will be working on a schedule once we have the devices on site.
  • Training – Maximo training is scheduled to begin on October 31 and will proceed through the system go-live. The team is currently developing the training materials and schedules. Training will be broken down by user roles and around the tasks that will be accomplished by that role. Each person using Maximo will need to complete training(s) for their roles prior to accessing the system. Multiple training sessions will be provided and scheduling will be coordinated through the FS management team. As a separate effort but one that will help us adopt Maximo, the Workplace Improvement Team (WIT) sponsored general training sessions this summer and successfully trained ~120 staff on basic computer skills.
  • Demonstration Site - A demonstration site is available for you to login to and explore Maximo. The demo environment is a playground that gives you the chance to get a look and feel of Maximo. It does not contain any UC Berkeley-specific data, and may look different from our final Maximo design, which is being configured as described above. Click here for details on how to login to the demo site.
